Premium SSAW & SAWH Steel Pipe (Spiral Welded Pipe)
Our SSAW (Spiral Submerged Arc Welding) and SAWH (Submerged Arc Welded Helical) pipes are manufactured by helically forming hot-rolled steel strips and welding them using double-sided submerged arc welding. This spiral seam design provides excellent uniform strength and resistance to tearing, making it highly cost-effective for large-diameter requirements.

Description
1. Product Overview & Applications
SSAW (Spiral Submerged Arc Welding) and SAWH (Submerged Arc Welded Helical) pipes are formed by rolling hot-rolled steel strip coils at a certain helical angle and welding the pipe seams together. The spiral welding seam allows for the production of large-diameter pipes from narrower steel plates.
Compared to LSAW (Longitudinal) pipes, SSAW pipes provide excellent uniform stress distribution. If a defect or crack occurs, the spiral weld acts as a natural barrier to prevent it from propagating rapidly along the length of the pipe. They are incredibly cost-effective for high-volume, large-diameter pipeline projects.
Primary Applications: Long-distance water transportation, petroleum and natural gas pipelines, chemical fluid transmission, piling (foundation pipes), port construction, and structural steelworks.

4. Manufacturing Process Flow
Our SSAW pipes go through rigorous and continuous processing. The steel coils are flattened and edge-milled before being shaped into a spiral. The seams are then welded simultaneously from the inside and outside using the double submerged arc welding method to guarantee penetration and strength.
Raw Material Coil → Uncoiling → Flattening → Edge Milling → Helical Forming → Inner Submerged Arc Welding → Outer Submerged Arc Welding → Ultrasonic Testing (UT) → Cutting to length → X-Ray Inspection → Hydrostatic Testing → Pipe End Chamfering → Final Inspection → Marking → Coating & Packing.

5. Coating & Packaging
For large diameter pipes used in demanding environments, packaging and anti-corrosion protection are vital. We offer:
- End Finish: Plain ends, Beveled ends, equipped with plastic caps or steel rings.
- Internal/External Coating: Bare, Lightly oiled, Black/Red anti-corrosion painting, 3PE/3LPE coating, FBE (Fusion Bonded Epoxy), Epoxy Coal Tar, Cement Mortar lining for water pipelines.
- Packing: Shipped loose, with nylon slings and sufficient dunnage to avoid collision damage during sea transport.
