Description

1. Product Overview

Epoxy Coated Steel Pipe is widely used for the transportation of oil, gas, water, and wastewater. The internal and external epoxy coating provides an exceptional shield against corrosion and abrasive substances. We specialize in two primary types of epoxy coatings:

  • Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE): A high-performance anti-corrosion powder coating that is heat-cured to form a robust chemical bond with the steel surface.
  • Liquid Epoxy: A multi-component coating system typically used for internal linings or complex fittings where powder coating is less applicable.

2. Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) Technology

FBE is a thermosetting epoxy resin applied to the pipe at temperatures typically ranging from 180°C to 250°C. Once the powder hits the hot pipe, it melts and flows onto the surface, chemically cross-linking to form a hard, monolithic layer.

Key Advantages:

  • Excellent Adhesion: Forms a permanent bond that resists cathodic disbondment.
  • Chemical Resistance: Highly resistant to acids, alkalis, and hydrocarbons.
  • Flexibility: Can withstand bending and soil stress without cracking or peeling.
  • Thermal Stability: Suitable for a wide range of operating temperatures.

5. Manufacturing Process (FBE)

Our FBE coating line uses a fully automated process to ensure consistent quality and thickness:

  1. Pre-heating: Pipe is heated to remove moisture.
  2. Surface Cleaning: Shot blasting to reach Sa 2.5 cleanliness and provide a rough anchor profile.
  3. Heating: Medium-frequency induction heating to the required application temperature.
  4. Powder Application: Electrostatic spray application of epoxy powder.
  5. Curing: The epoxy cures on the hot surface using residual heat.
  6. Cooling: Water quenching to bring the pipe to handling temperature.
  7. Final Inspection: Holiday detection, thickness measurement, and adhesion tests.
